ESL grammar checker that explains why.
Paste what you wrote. Every spelling, grammar, punctuation and capital-letter mistake is underlined with a short explanation and a one-click fix, so you learn the rule instead of just accepting a correction.
Correct vs. natural
Why correct English can still sound translated
A grammar checker finds errors. It can't hear phrasing that is grammatical but that a native speaker wouldn't use, and that is the part that costs non-native writers marks, credibility and, more and more, false AI flags.
I am having interest in data science.
I am interested in data science.
Grammatical-looking, but English uses “interested in”.
We made a research about this topic.
We did research on this topic.
“Research” takes “do”, and is uncountable.
It is very important to discuss about it.
It is very important to discuss it.
“Discuss” takes no preposition.
FAQ
Questions about the grammar checker
Is this ESL grammar checker free?
Yes. Checking is free and needs no account. It is rule-based, so no AI model reads your text, and there is a generous daily limit only to stop automated abuse.
What does it check?
Spelling, grammar (agreement, verb forms, articles and commonly confused words), punctuation and capital letters, in both American and British English: a word counts as misspelled only when both spellings reject it. Names and other capitalised words are not marked as spelling mistakes.
Why does it explain each mistake?
Because the fastest way to stop making a mistake is to understand it. Click an underlined word to see what is wrong, then choose a fix or correct it yourself.
My grammar is correct but my English still sounds unnatural. Why?
Grammar checkers find errors; they can't see phrasing that is correct but sounds translated, such as “I am having interest in” or “make a research”. That phrasing is also what AI detectors tend to flag in non-native writing. The ESL Humanizer editor rewrites it in natural English while keeping your meaning.
Is my text stored?
No. Your text is checked on our own server and is not stored or used to train any model.
